About

Woodlawn Collaborative (WC) is a shared space for innovation, education, and activism run for and by members of the Woodlawn and University of Chicago communities. The Collaborative is made up of a committee of community and student organizers who work closely with programming groups to run the space effectively and with the greatest possible outreach to the Woodlawn community. Partner groups program in Woodlawn Collaborative for free and offer programming for all ages at no cost to participants. Beyond daily programs, Woodlawn Collaborative and its partner organizations offer a variety of less frequent programs including monthly open mic nights and community forums and fairs.

The space is governed based on the notion of collaboration, with partner groups and organizers each taking part in the decision-making process.  Anyone interested in becoming involved with the Woodlawn Collaborative is invited to attend these open meetings or contact us.

Mission Statement: The Woodlawn Collaborative aims to create a shared space in which we promote activities for art, education, and community empowerment with the ultimate goal of meeting the needs of the community and forming meaningful partnerships between different organizations and groups of people.
